Being of value.

No matter the situation, the key is to be of value.

How this is achieved is up to you. You can watch their kids, bring them
donuts, make them laugh, give them money, or give them the thumb on
Facebook. The key is that you are bringing something which they value, which
they like, appreciate, and want more of.

Think about those people that you do the most for, it is for those who do
the most for you. Thus, this is how to start relationships, by investing in
others. Most important is to not be the sort of person who only takes from
others, as they eventually recognize this and cut the friendship short.

People are not interested in interacting with people who they think have no
have no value associated to them.

Figure out what you bring to the table and use those skills to help those
around you, everyone has something. It could be those donuts, or it could be
that you introduce them to interesting people. It could be a good book
recommendation, or it could be that your family member is a big whig at the
company they work for. You can be of value to anyone, absolutely anyone, if
you can make them smile, think, or otherwise feel good about themselves.

You will find that when you become a value to them, they also become a value
to you.

‘Strive not to be a success, but to be of value’ -Albert Einstein

‘If you are not useful, you are useless’ -Kanye West

“How many slams in an old screen door?
Depends how loud you shut it.
How many slices in a bread?
Depends how thin you cut it.
How much good inside a day?
Depends how good you live ’em.
How much love inside a friend?
Depends how much you give ’em.” ― Shel Silverstein

Be of use to others and others will be of use to you.
